L’objet littéraire, espace de refondation des littératures comparées ?

ANNICK LOUIS

Abstract: The paper is a reflection on the status of the literary object (i.e. the object of literary studies) in France, in the context of what has been called the crisis of the humanities. It highlights the causes of the phenomenon and discusses the ways in which the community of professors and researchers react to the perceived crisis. The author argues that the current situation of the discipline should become itself an object of study, with a view to providing a new foundation for literary studies in the topography of knowledge.

Keywords: France, literary object, literary studies, the crisis of the humanities, higher education, comparative literature
