Abstract: In an age where alienation has triumphed and the individual has difficulties finding oneself, caught as he is in a process of mass homogenisation, Fondane’s work may be seen as a restoration and defence of human dignity. Fondane’s work and life form a unity. His work and life urge us to repose the question of the values in a world where everything is doubted. Over 110 years from his birth and almost 65 years from his death, Benjamin Fondane defies and summons us.
